The Abia State Government has completed plans to train 2000 master trainers for teachers.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, briefed journalists on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

Kanu stated that 200 teachers have passed through the training and the remaining 1,800 will receive it soon.

He also revealed that the state has began assigning security guards at public schools, a practice he claims is intended to protect students’ lives and property.

“This is part of the state government’s overall plan to modernize our educational system.

“Also, as part of the ongoing educational reform agenda, the state government’s promise to put security officers in our schools has been fulfilled.

“Posting security personnel is aimed at securing the lives and property of both the students, teachers, and the property of the schools involved”.

Kanu reported that 5,746 ASUBEB employees have been targeted for
promotion as a strategy to boost productivity.

According to him, the board has selected 40 people for the Abia State School Enhancement Team program to ensure quality assurance and compliance with school policies.

The newly improved eye center, an annexe of Abia Specialist Hospital in Amachara, will be commissioned by the state government on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Kanu further stated that a total of 5,746 ASUBEB employees had been designated for promotion, claiming that this is a means to inspire employees to be more productive.

He claims that the board has conducted screenings as part of the Abia State School Enhancement Team program.
