On Tuesday, the Kano State Police Command arrested three persons in possession of N129 billion counterfeit currencies, Edum News reports.
Their arrest was made public by the state’s police command spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa on Tuesday.
Giving details on the fake currencies, the police revealed that it include, US Dollars, CFA and Naira.
“Counterfeit currencies equivalent to a total sum of N129bn were recovered”, Kiyawa said.
He also gave a breakdown of the fake currencies as $3,366,000, CFA51,970,000 and N1,443,000.
Furthermore, Kiyawa disclosed that the two persons arrested with the fake money and the individual from whom they were stolen have been apprehended and are currently in police custody, helping with the investigation of the actual producers of the counterfeit money.
