President Yoon Of South Korea Banned From Leaving County

The President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol was on Monday banned by the Justice Ministry from leaving the country.

Edum News gathered that the ban was following his martial law which had last week plunged the country into chaos.

Recall that Yoon had sent special forces and helicopters to parliament on the night of December 3 before lawmakers forced him to rescind the order by rejecting his decree.

He however narrowly survived an impeachment motion in parliament on Saturday even as huge crowds braved freezing temperatures to call for his ouster.

Despite remaining in office, heavy investigations are ongoing on Yoon and his close allies, including a probe for alleged insurrection.

Confirming his travel ban on Monday, the Ministry of Justice revealed that Yoon had become the first sitting South Korean president to be banned from leaving the country.

The ban has since sparked various conversations across the country as some are cheering the move while others are against it.

Reacting to the ban, President Yoon has apologised for the “anxiety and inconvenience” caused by his declaration of martial law.

He also stated that he would accept all political and legal responsibility for the martial law fiasco.
