Economy Comment: Davido Reacts To Move To Cancel His Show

Popular Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has revealed that there is an ongoing plan to cancel his much-anticipated December show in Nigeria.

The move according to him is following his remarks about the country’s economy.

The singer however noted that he is not bordered as he does not have to perform in Nigeria.

Speaking in a post on his X account on Tuesday evening, Davido said, “Dem say dem go cancel my show cus of my interview. loooool I don’t have to perform in Nigeria.”

Edum News reports that the father of two became the talk of town after appearing on the American podcast ‘Big Homies House’, where he advised Americans against relocating to Africa, particularly Nigeria due to the current economic challenges between the nation.

In the podcast, Davido described the country’s economy as being in “shambles.”

The singer’s statement has since sparked mixed reactions from both Nigerians at home and abroad.

While some are criticizing him for talking ill of the country, others are lauding the singer for being real about the country’s economic challenges.

Reacting to the backlash, Davido defended his position stating that as an entertainer, it is his responsibility to be the country’s “real ambassador.”

His post on his X account reads, “Yall mad cus we the real ambassadors!”
