Bright Osayi-Samuel, a Super Eagles defender, has returned to training for Fenerbahçe’s heated Istanbul derby against Galatasaray, which takes place on Saturday at the Ulker Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

On Tuesday, the player uploaded a snapshot of himself training at the club’s Can Bartu Training Facility.

The former Queens Park Rangers fullback had been sidelined for three games after suffering an injury against Rizespor on August 25, which also kept him out of Nigeria’s matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

After being initially picked up for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Osayi-Samuel was forced to withdraw due to injury; while Benjamin Taminu was selected to replace him in the team.

His comeback comes just in time for the explosive encounter against the Yellow-Reds, where he will meet his countryman Osimhen, who has just joined Galatasaray on loan.

Osimhen made an effective debut for Gala, assisting in their 5-0 victory over Caykur Rizespor. He will be motivated to make a good recovery in the derby against Fenerbahçe and score his first goal for the club.

Osayi-Samuel will also be determined to prevent his fellow Nigerian from influencing the game while also securing his comeback to the team.
