The Akwa Ibom State government has initiated the second phase of its palliative distribution program, which will provide free rice, beans, and Garri to destitute and vulnerable individuals affected by the removal of fuel subsidy.
The palliative distribution program which reflects Governor Eno’s dedication to assisting vulnerable individuals during economic downturns had over 5,000 elderly and young beneficiaries received food vouchers and collected the items at a flag-off ceremony at the Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Council Secretariat.
The Bulk Purchase Agency, led by Governor Umo Eno’s Personal Assistants, aims to alleviate the economic hardship on indigent people while encouraging them to return to farming as a lasting solution to hunger and poverty.
He said: “This initiative aims to cushion the effects of the harsh economy on indigent people.
“However, the governor encourages people to return to farming as a lasting solution to hunger and poverty.”
Aniekan Umanah, a former House of Representatives member praised the Governor for implementing measures to alleviate economic hardship on indigent citizens while Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency representative Ubong Obot hailed the Governor as kind, generous, and compassionate.
