Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has stated that he is willing to work with those who share his vision for improving Nigeria’s prosperity.

In a series of posts on Saturday on his official X Twitter, Obi reiterated that he is not seeking to become president or any other office, but rather wants to see Nigeria prosper.

He was responding to an alleged misreading of his recent television interview, stating that some fifth columnists used propaganda to intentionally twist the narrative.

The former Anambra State Governor stated that he does not want to be among those focused with 2027 while Nigerians are suffering from hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other critical issues.

He stated, “I have been besieged with calls and concerns about the interview I gave to News Central Television. In that interview, I took advantage of the chance to clarify my views in depth. However, some fifth columnists have used propaganda to purposefully skew the story.

“Let me clarify what I said, which is on record. I do not want to be one of those focused on 2027 while Nigerians are suffering from hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other serious issues.

“I made it clear that I was willing to collaborate with others as long as their aims did not revolve on state capture. I stressed my commitment to working with others who share my vision for Nigeria’s progress.”

The former governor reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party and to getting millions of kids who are not in school back into classrooms.

“Additionally, I stated unequivocally that I am still devoted to the Labour Party and that anyone who wants to engage in dialogue or work together must be upfront about their genuine goals.

“If I choose to run for any office in 2027, it won’t be with those whose only goal is to capture the state or simply win an election.

“I want them to outline our plans for making sure that no child is left behind, reintegrating millions of out-of-school youth into the educational system, promoting healthy lifestyles, and helping people escape poverty”
