Brentford FC has reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool to sign 21-year-old center-back, Sepp van den Berg for a £25 million transfer fee plus £5 million in add-ons.

Van den Berg moved to Liverpool from PEC Zwolle in 2019 for £4.4 million, but he has only made four professional appearances for the club.

The choice to complete the deal is now up to the player, who is aware of interest from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Leverkusen is also looking into other options, such as Edmond Tapsoba, Jonathan Tah, and Odilon Kossounou, to further bolster their defense.

This might be the second transfer between Brentford and Liverpool in recent years, following the successful signing of 21-year-old offensive midfielder Fabio Carvalho earlier this summer.

If van den Berg joins Brentford, he will most certainly become a major member of their defense, providing youth and talent to the team.

The transfer would also result in a large profit for Liverpool, which signed van den Berg for a very low sum just four years ago.

However, given the player’s limited playing time and the emergence of other defensive talents, the Reds appear willing to let him leave to pursue his career.

Finally, the decision rests with van den Berg, who must carefully assess his options before making a decision that may influence his future in football.
