Gian Piero Gasperini, the manager of Atlanta, has expressed regret about the timing of Ademola Lookman’s possible departure from the team.
Lookman, who played two seasons with La Dea, is aiming to sign with Paris Saint-Germain, one of the biggest teams in Ligue 1.
Another forward, Teun Koopmeiners, is also eager to play for Juventus, the dominant team in Serie A.
Although Gasperini expressed regret at the timing of the transfer drama, he claimed he owed the Nigerian international and Koopmeiners a great deal.
Gasperini told DANZ: “I owe a lot to Koopmeiners and Lookman; they have always been sincere with me. It’s unfortunate that this situation arises just as the season is starting.
“The worst part is that these issues surface when the championship is already underway. No one likes dealing with these distractions at this stage. If this had happened in July, it wouldn’t have caused such problems”.
