The Nigerian Army has neutralised a prominent Boko Haram commander, Abu Rijab, and other terrorists in an aggressive operation.
In a post made on their official X account on Sunday, the Army stated that the operation occurred in Bula Daloye, Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.
It further said that the successful operation was accompanied by the surrender of numerous terrorists and their families to forces as a result of continued pressure on their camps.
According to the Army, the forces apprehended many criminal suspects and recovered weapons and ammunition.
“Following an intense firefight, the troops overpowered the terrorists, neutralizing three, including a wanted Boko Haram commander Abu Rijab.
“The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and mobile phones.
“Additionally, eight terrorists and their families surrendered to troops in Gwoza Local Government Area.
“The same troops also apprehended two suspects in Konduga Local Government Area with 52 bags of illicit drugs intended for supply to terrorists,” the Army said.
It further revealed that Alhaji Adamu Tanko, the chairman of the Gassol Local Government Area Hunters’ Association, was detained by troops stationed in Taraba for allegedly selling an AK-47 gun to a person suspected of being a terrorist.
According to the report, the weapon was found during an organized raid against militants in the Plateau State border town of Boki Lamba.
Two suspected criminal elements were also captured by the force in the Rikkos neighborhood of Jos North Local Government Area in Plateau.
In addition, it claims that they found a fake rifle and cell phones with pictures of several gun and ammunitions on them.
Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, praised the soldiers for their tenacity and dedication.
