The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission has set Saturday, November 16, 2024, as the date for the state’s 20 local government elections.
Babatunde Osibodu, the state commission’s chairman, confirmed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He stated that the publishing of election guidelines and a stakeholders meeting are slated for Thursday, August 8, 2024, with political party campaigns beginning on Friday, August 9, 2024.
“The political parties are also scheduled to hold their party primaries between Monday, August 26 to Monday, September 9, 2024,” he said.
Also, he said the elected local government officials concluded their tenure about a week ago, and civil servants are currently manning the various local government councils around the state waiting for the election of new chairmen.
