Artificial Intelligence And The Future Of Work

In simple terms, Artificial intelligence, AI, is the ability of a computer or robots to complete simple or difficult tasks that are usually done by humans.

Although there are no artificial intelligence that can perform the wide variety of tasks an ordinary human can do, some AI have the computed algorithm to deliver multiple tasks faster than any human would.

As a matter of fact, artificial intelligence have aways been present with humans but have always been modified by the joint effort of extraordinary humans who intend to provide definite answers to complex human problems.

Against this backdrop, artificial intelligence has been re-engineered to handle creative and technical problems across different sectors

With the patent perfection and timeliness at which Artificial intelligence is engaging and completing various tasks across the world, millions of humans are worried if they would be in the employment of organizations in years to come.

A recent report by an investment bank, Goldman Sachs, revealed that more than 300 million people in Europe will most likely lose their jobs to Artificial intelligence in a time blink.

Speaking on this to our correspondent, a Nigerian tech expert, Mrs Bolatito Abiola explained that artificial intelligence cannot totally replace humans in the workplace as it functions better in areas where the jobs are repetitive and doesn’t necessarily need much creativity, emotions and innovation.

She further noted that AI’s are also tools of creating employment as humans would be needed in operating these machines.

Also speaking on this, another tech expert, Divine-Praise Eric, maintained that being abreast of trends will help citizens stay several steps ahead of machines.

Divine-Praise also stated that although he is impressed with the abilities of AI, the machine lacks the ability to think out of the box like humans because they depend on data to function and it also makes people too reliant on it rather than helping them exercise their thinking powers.

He therefore noted that instead of being afraid of losing their jobs, humans should harness artificial intelligence in carrying out their jobs and also be innovative and creative enough so as not to be replaced by machines.

“So, with the fast pace at which technology is growing and it’s impact in the world of jobs, Nigerians and other global citizens should embrace artificial intelligence not just as a threat to their jobs but as a blessing and a push to do better,” he added.
