Six people have been confirmed dead following an accident involving a truck and a Toyota Sienna at Verony, Ogere, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
In a statement released in Abeokuta on Friday, Mrs. Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Ogun spokesperson, said that the collision occurred about 7:40 a.m.
It involved a Toyota Sienna with the registration EPE 692 EL and an unidentified truck that did not stop.
She also said that the collision was caused by the Sienna space bus’ excessive speed, which collided with a moving truck from behind.
“Two men and seven women were involved in the accident. Unfortunately, two men and four women died, while three women sustained injuries.
“The injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere. The deceased were deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara,” she said.
The Sector Commander, FRSC, Ogun State, Akinwumi Fasakin, who served as the spokesperson, said that the collision might have been prevented if the driver had exercised the necessary caution.
He implored drivers to make sure they drive with rapt attention and urged motorists to always adhere strictly to traffic laws and regulations.
