The first ballots for the US election will be distributed in North Carolina, two months before the expected picture finish between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

The battleground state is set to deliver approximately 130,000 absentee voting slips, with a presidential debate slated for next week. Early in-person voting will begin as early as September 20 in several areas.

North Carolina is one of several swing states Harris and Trump have been visiting as they approach the most intensive period of a presidential campaign expected to be determined by razor-thin margins.

Harris’s arrival into the race six weeks ago has caused enthusiasm among Democrats, generating $361 million in August, the highest monthly collection of the cycle and nearly tripling that of Trump’s team figure.

Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez had said:

“In just a short time, Vice President Harris’s candidacy has galvanized a history-making, broad, and diverse coalition — with the type of enthusiasm, energy, and grit that wins close elections.

“As we enter the final stretch of this election, we’re making sure every hard-earned dollar goes to winning over the voters who will decide this election.”
