The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of 23-year-old Ayodele Gabriel, who was discovered unconscious in his toilet after a fire broke out in his apartment at Sakura Estate in Sagamu, Ogun State.
On Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that the deceased was transported to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu and confirmed dead.
Odutola added that the landlord, Oluwaseun Emmanuel, reported the event to the Sakaru police division, adding that when he noticed the fire, he informed surrounding people, who helped extinguish it and force the door open.
She stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
Odutola stated that the landlord reported the incident to the Sakura Police Division on August 28, 2024. The inquiry has begun. Our troops responded to the spot; the origin of the fire remains unknown.”
